This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the VSLZR home visualizer, the contractor pages and dashboard at app.vslzr.app, and this website at vslzr.app (together, the "Service"), and what we do with it. The Service is operated by Powered By Piland LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company, doing business as VSLZR ("VSLZR", "we", "us"). Questions go to support@vslzr.app.
The short version
- VSLZR is a tool that home-service contractors, like landscapers and lighting installers, put on their own websites and pages so homeowners can preview their property with proposed work.
- When you use the visualizer on a contractor's website or page, the information you submit is shared with that contractor so they can contact you about the work. The contractor handles your information under their own practices.
- Renderings are illustrations of what the work could look like. They are not a guarantee of the finished work.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Who this policy covers
Homeowners and other visitors who use the visualizer on a contractor's website or on a contractor page we host. Contractors and their staff who have an account with us.Business visitors who try the visualizer or contact us through vslzr.app.
Information we collect
When you use the visualizer
- Your property address, if you type one in. Address suggestions appear as you type.
- Photos you upload of your home or yard.
- Imagery of the property. If you enter an address instead of uploading a photo, we retrieve a street-level image of that address from Google, and for some lighting estimates we use Google's aerial roof data for that location to measure the roofline.
- Your choices, such as the style or service you pick and any changes you ask for.
- Contact details you give us to see or receive your design or request an estimate: first name, email address, phone number, and optionally your address and any notes you add.
- The estimate shown to you, if the contractor shows price ranges, along with the measurements used to produce it.
- Postcard codes. If you arrive by scanning a code on a postcard a contractor mailed to you, we look up the address and design image linked to that code from the mail service the contractor used, so your design opens ready to view.
When you try VSLZR as a business
If you try the visualizer on vslzr.app, we ask for your name, business name, email and mobile phone, along with the address or photo you test with and the page you came from. If you fill out a contact form on vslzr.app, we collect what you type into it.
Contractor accounts
For contractor accounts we collect the account holder's name and email for sign-in, business details used to set up the contractor's pages and visualizer (business name, logo, brand colors, service area and pricing settings), and the email address or system where the contractor wants inquiries sent.
Collected automatically
- Device and usage information, such as browser type, the page the visualizer was used on, and which steps of the visualizer you reached.
- A one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address, used to prevent abuse and limit how many designs one visitor can make. We do not store the IP address itself with your visitor session.
- Bot protection signals from our hosting provider, used to block automated abuse.
- Browser storage. The visualizer keeps a short-lived copy of a postcard design in your browser's session storage so a page reload does not start over. Contractor dashboards use a sign-in cookie. We do not use advertising cookies on the visualizer or this website.
How we use information
- To create your rendering and, when the contractor has turned it on, show an estimate.
- To send your inquiry, contact details and design to the contractor whose website or page you used.
- To email you a copy of your design when you ask for one.
- To run, secure and improve the Service, including preventing fraud, abuse and excessive use.
- To show contractors how their visualizer is performing, such as how many visitors made a design or sent an inquiry.
- To respond to you when you contact us, and to follow up with businesses that try VSLZR.
- To meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
How image generation works
To make a rendering, we send the photo or street-level image of the property, along with instructions for the chosen style or service, to Google's Gemini image models. Gemini analyzes the scene and returns a new image showing the proposed work. We use publicly available property photos, such as street-level imagery, only as a reference to generate a new rendering. The original photo or street-level image is used only to make the rendering. It is not sent to contractors or shown on share pages, and we do not sell, license or redistribute it.
Renderings are illustrations, not guarantees. They show an idea of what the work could look like. Actual results depend on the site, materials, plants, weather, local rules and the contractor's work, and will differ from the rendering. Any estimate is a rough range based on measurements and pricing settings the contractor chose. It is not a binding offer. The contractor sets the final price.
How we share information
With the contractor whose page you used
This is the main purpose of the Service. When you submit your details through a contractor's visualizer, we share your name, email, phone, address, notes, style choice, your rendering (not the original photo), any estimate shown and related measurements with that contractor. Depending on how the contractor set things up, we deliver this by email, by sending it to a web address the contractor provides, or by adding it to the contractor's customer management system. The contractor may also be able to see the steps you reached in the visualizer. Once the contractor has your information, their own privacy practices apply to how they use it, including whether and how they call, text or email you. Please contact the contractor directly about their practices.
With service providers that run the Service
- Google: address suggestions and address lookup (Google Maps Platform), street-level imagery (Street View), aerial roof data for lighting measurements (Solar API), and image analysis and generation (Gemini).
- Supabase: database, sign-in and image storage.
- Vercel: hosting for the app and this website, scheduled jobs and bot protection.
- Resend: sending emails, such as inquiry notices to contractors and design emails to homeowners.
- Formspree: receiving contact form submissions on vslzr.app.
- Google Fonts: loading the typefaces on this website, which means your browser requests font files from Google.
- Our own customer management system, for inquiries from businesses that try VSLZR or contact us.
These providers process information for us to provide their services. Their own privacy terms also apply.
Other sharing
- Share links. Each design has a link that shows the rendering. Anyone who has the link can view it, so share it with care.
- Legal reasons. If required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or us.
- Business transfers. If our business is sold, merged or reorganized, information may transfer as part of that deal, subject to this policy.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with data brokers.
Renderings as examples
We may show renderings made with VSLZR as examples on our website and in our marketing. When we do, we leave out the address, house number, names and any other personal information. If you would like us to stop using a specific rendering, email support@vslzr.app and we will stop using it going forward.
How long we keep information
Renderings that never became an inquiry are deleted automatically after about 180 days. The photo or street-level image used to make them may be kept longer, and you can email us to have it removed. Inquiries, and the designs attached to them, are kept so the contractor can follow up, until the contractor or we delete them or you ask us to delete them. Account information is kept while the account is open and for a reasonable time afterward for records, legal and security reasons.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, such as encrypted connections and access controls on our database. Images are stored at long, hard-to-guess web addresses, so anyone who has a link to an image can open it. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that information will never be accessed without permission.
Your choices and requests
- You can use the visualizer without submitting contact details, though some features, like receiving your design or an estimate, need them.
- You can ask us to access, correct or delete information we hold about you by emailing support@vslzr.app. We may need to confirm your identity, and we may keep some information where the law requires or allows it.
- To stop hearing from a contractor, contact that contractor directly. We can delete the copy we hold, but we cannot delete copies the contractor has already received.
- You can block or clear cookies and browser storage in your browser settings.
Privacy rights vary by state and country. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, and we will honor requests as required by the laws that apply to you.
Children
The Service is meant for adults 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Where information is processed
VSLZR is offered to people in the United States. Information is processed and stored in the United States and wherever our service providers operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will change the "Last updated" date above, and if a change is significant we will take reasonable steps to let contractors know.
